John H. Cox founded the firm in 1981. Mr. Cox specializes in taxation and sophisticated estate planning techniques. His experience also includes commercial real estate ventures and acquisitions, venture capital and investments as well as corporate counseling. Mr. Cox has served as corporate counsel to numerous substantial closely held corporations and has also served on several boards of directors. He is the author of numerous professional publications and is a frequent lecturer at tax planning seminars.

Mr. Cox is both a CPA and a Registered Investment Advisor. He has also founded Equity Property Management, L.L.C., a real estate management company that oversees properties throughout the Midwest and Cox Financial Group, Ltd., a registered investment advisory firm that provides investment and wealth management services to individuals and corporations. Mr. Cox’s entrepreneurial and real business experience brings a refreshing and valuable perspective in representing clients’ needs.

Christopher D. Oakes has significant experience in litigating complex matters in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate level; illustrative reported cases include: Newcombe v. Sundara, 274 Ill. App. 3d 590 (1st Dist. 1995); Rozenfeld v. Medical Protective Co., 73 F. 3d 154 (7th Cir. 1996); In re Sevko, 143 B.R. 114 (N.D. Ill. 1992); Fahlstrom v. Jones, 2011 Ill App (1st) 103318, 952 N.E.2d 1227. He has served as outside litigation counsel to many of the firm’s corporate clients and regularly offers preventative counsel to eliminate or minimize liability. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Oakes concentrates in family law and mediation, with an emphasis in business valuation disputes. He also counsels corporate clients in business matters and real estate transactions.
